US: Boutique hotel Worldwide Home has acquired the 137-year-old Whitney Nationwide Financial institution constructing and the neighbouring Tulane-Newcomb Constructing, increasing in downtown New Orleans. 

The Whitney Nationwide Financial institution constructing was designed in 1888 by Thomas Sully and encompasses a historic security deposit vault, glass cupola, and library. 

The Tulane-Newcomb Constructing, inbuilt 1902 by philanthropist Paul Tulane, is recognised for its ornate Beaux Arts terra cotta façade. 

The 2 new buildings bookend the lodge.

Worldwide Home proprietor Sean Cummings will collaborate with architects Brooks Graham and Williams Architects on the redesign, with plans to create “secret pathways and distinctive makes use of”.

Cummings mentioned: “14 years within the making, this buy creates maybe essentially the most spectacular assortment of structure within the South, reaffirming Worldwide Home’s fame as an area establishment, journey vacation spot, and main design voice in New Orleans.

Full redevelopment particulars can be introduced in autumn 2025.
