Kate Nicholls, Chief Govt of UKHospitality, mentioned: “At the moment’s GDP figures are a sign that we’re starting to see the sunshine on the finish of a protracted tunnel for the broader economic system, which can hopefully embolden client confidence and, in flip, enhance the fortunes of hospitality companies.

“These figures additionally clarify the significance of journey and tourism as an export product, which was the one largest constructive change on this information.

“Nonetheless, hospitality GDP remained flat within the first quarter and that’s reflective of the price challenges the sector continues to face. We have to see the price burden for the sector rebalanced and diminished so companies have the power to spend money on their enterprise and develop.

“Harnessing the potential of hospitality, tourism and journey, each at residence and overseas, can actually ship on the financial ambitions of the nation, and it’s essential the Authorities recognises the strategic significance of our sector.

“All of this may mix to provide companies the arrogance and monetary headroom they should spend money on their companies, which can drive financial development, create jobs and encourage regeneration of our cities and cities.”
