New National Restaurant Association Report Provides a Demographic Profile of Restaurant Owners

The U.S. restaurant trade has a better proportion of minority- and women-owned companies than the general non-public sector. These are among the many findings of a brand new Nationwide Restaurant Affiliation Data Brief, which offers a demographic profile of restaurant house owners within the U.S.

Based on information from the U.S. Census Bureau, 48% of restaurant companies are owned by minorities. That compares to only 36% of companies within the total non-public sector.

19% of restaurant companies are Asian-owned, 16% are Hispanic-owned, and 16% are Black- or African American-owned. Every of those teams have a better possession illustration within the restaurant trade than they do within the total non-public sector.

Hawaii, Texas, Georgia, California and Florida have the best proportion of eating places which are owned by minorities.

One-half of restaurant companies are owned by girls

49% of restaurant companies are a minimum of 50% owned by girls – in comparison with 44% of companies within the total non-public sector. 

39% of restaurant companies are majority-owned by girls, whereas 10% are equally owned by ladies and men. 

Montana, Georgia, Louisiana, Rhode Island, Mississippi and Tennessee have the best proportion of eating places which are a minimum of 50% owned by girls.

Different highlights: 

  • 36% of restaurant house owners have been born exterior of america.
  • 4% of restaurant companies are owned by veterans.
  • 28% of restaurant house owners are underneath the age of 45.
  • 33% of restaurant house owners have a highschool diploma or much less.
